Tamang Heritage Trail

The Tamang heritage trail is is Langtang. This trail is closer to the tibetan border than any other trail giving trekkers great views into tibet.

The trekking route is a loop on the western edge of langtang national park  it passes through a number of tamang villages which are mostly buddhist and many are of tibetan descent.

You will probably need to get a permit before trekking. as is common across much of nepal

Top Tips for Trekkers from local Sherpas

1 Always carry local currency

2 Hire local guides and porters who have both the knowledge and experience of these challenging mountains

3 Keeping drinking! It is critical to always stay hydrated.

4. The Khumbu Cough, otherwise known as the high-altitude hack, will make trekking/breathing more difficult. The very dry air causes it. We recommend you avoid over-exertion and wear a face mask to keep the moisture in the air going into your lungs.

5 Be aware of how quickly the temperature can drop when the sun sets

6 Never trek on your own!

7. Don’t be complacent about altitude sickness – this can affect anyone and if it affects someone in your group the best advice is to get them down the mountain as fast as you can.

8. बिस्तारी Bistārī ! Aside from emergency measures for altitude sickness, remember ‘bistari, bistari’. This means ‘slowly’. Go slowly, step by step, don’t rush, this is Nepal, the pace of life is much slower than you will be used to and our mountains are challenging!
